ABOUT WESC

Women's Empowerment for Social Change is a not-for-profit, (501C3) faith-based, philanthropic organization; for ordinary women, set to do extraordinary things.  We began with a group of four Christian women in 2014 (Sharon Earley, Katia Bryant, Patrice Brandon and, Mary Rodriguez), as Women's Empowerment, Inc. Together, we have over 50 years of ministerial and organizational experience.

We are purposed to serve women and their families as they endeavor to thrive as an emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy unit.  The first four years of WE, Inc focused on providing tools and resources for women in transition or suffering obstacles that keep them from functioning to their fullest potential.

Since our inception, we have hosted empowerment conferences, facilitated seminars and workshops, worked alongside other community organizations and served women and families in need.  

 

Young girls have been empowered through our Young Girls R.O.C.K. initiative. This initiative is intended to build self-esteem and confidence through the arts group activities.

In 2020, Women’s Empowerment, Inc. launched Women’s Empowerment for Social Change (WESC), at Richmond Hill Retreat Center in Richmond, Virginia. Thus, WESC now operates under the umbrella of Women’s Empowerment, Inc. 

 

With the launch of WESC, our mandate became more focused to not only serve women, but the entire family.  Understanding that over 80% of single parent households are led by women, we clarified our vision and created a R.E.A.C.H. paradigm under which we now operate.

The classes and workshops were so successful that we began  the Elevate Equipping Center.  The Elevate Equipping Center offer courses that support women and their families as they seek to heal and become whole. Upon completion of courses, participants receive a Certificate of Completion.  Courses are held virtually, online and in-person. Some of our classes and workshops offered are Now is the Set Time, Unleashing the Greatness Within, Order in the Chaos, Leaders Birth Leaders and Numbers Matter. We believe that with the proper tools and support each woman and her family can live a productive life while positively impacting change.

Women's Empowerment, Inc. supports American Heart Association's Go Red for Women.
